About Ollie
I am a passionate and experienced tutor, and find helping students reach their full potential to be extremely rewarding. I have a proven track record of providing academic success, and I use all my prior experience. Before I began my tutoring work, I had just graduated with a 1st-class English BA from the University of Cambridge. I realised that my educational experience, the knowledge I had acquired, would be useful for students in a similar position to my younger self. I began tutoring Oxbridge admissions - advising on personal statements, coaching for interviews and admissions tests - and realised that my previous experience at GCSE, A-Level, and 11+ could also be brought to bear. With 3 A*s in English, History, and Philosophy at A-Level, and 9,9,9,9,8 in English Literature, English Language, History, Religion, and Latin at GCSE, I use my success to cultivate students' own mastery of their subject. Having attended a grammar school in South London, I am also aware of the rigour of 11+ admissions tests. I am familiar with the current assessment styles and consider this area a key element to my tutoring. I now work as a fully DBS-checked 1:1 SEND Teaching Assistant alongside my tutoring, and I find this enhances and betters my approach regardless of the level or specific student I am coaching.

I am an experienced and passionate tutor offering tuition at the following levels, in the following subjects: - A-Level (History, English, Philosophy) - University Admissions (Personal Statement Guidance, Oxford/Cambridge interview coaching, ELAT tuition) - GCSE (English Literature, English Language, History, Religion, Latin) - 11+ admissions My lessons generally last for an hour, and I look to cultivate a mastery of subject matter that can only be afforded through one-to-one conversation. My methodology is informed by extensive tutoring experience alongside my work as a Teaching Assistant. While the content of my lessons is often student-driven, focusing on specific areas of curricula they may identify, I also suffuse this with a constant awareness of the various rubrics, mark schemes, and requirements of specific qualifications, so parents and students can rest assured that my tutoring rests on a holistic framework that lends itself to attaining results. I make sure that the past papers and learning materials I use are always up-to-date and the content of a given session will always be guided by the students' own needs, concerns, and targets. I am a fully trained 1:1 Teaching Assistant for students with special educational needs, and am able to accommodate a range of SEND requirements in a tutoring context.
