Drawing rests on a handful of core skills that every beginner should build first.

• Observation means studying shapes, proportions, and light before you put pencil to paper.
• Line control gives you steady, confident strokes that define clear outlines and forms.
• Shading uses light and dark tones to add depth, volume, and realism to a drawing.
• Proportion and perspective stop drawings from looking distorted or flat.

A private tutor spots weak spots in these basics early and helps you fix them fast.

A private drawing lesson in Katni costs approximately ₹475/hr.

The cost depends on:

• Your current level (beginner, intermediate, advanced)
• The instructor's credentials and track record
• The package you choose (one-off or regular)
• The lesson format (online, at home, at the tutor's)

Most teachers offer a free trial lesson so you can test their approach.

The 70/30 rule is a simple technique that sharpens how closely you observe your subject.

• The ratio suggests spending around seventy percent of your time looking at the subject and only thirty percent looking at the paper.
• The purpose is to build a stronger visual memory of shapes and proportions before you draw them.
• The application works especially well for life drawing, portraits, and still life studies.
• The benefit shows up quickly once observation becomes a habit rather than an afterthought.

A drawing tutor can demonstrate this technique and correct your habits in real time.
