University College of Law, Osmania University

The Faculty of Law, Osmania University, with a chequered history of more than 100 years, is an easily recognizable name in the education of law in India. The “Law class” was opened in the year 1899 to give instruction in law to students aspiring for a legal career, along with “Judicial Test” classes for Judicial Officers. In fact, the teaching of Law was in existence even before Osmania University came into existence in the year 1918! In the year 1923, the “law class” and “Judicial Test” classes were abolished and the Law Department was established in the Osmania University at the Arts College.

Post Graduate Diploma in Cyber Laws (PGDCL):

The College offers a One-year Post Graduate Diploma in Cyber Laws (PGDCL). Any graduate who qualifies in the Entrance Examination conducted by the university is eligible to apply to this course. The course is offered in the evening hours and on a self-financing basis. The candidates are admitted strictly in accordance with the merit secured at the entrance examination, keeping in view the Rules in force in respect of the statutory reservation of seats under categories of candidates. The Duration of the course is 1 year divided into 2 semesters.

Post Graduate Diploma in Taxation and Insurance Laws (PGDTIL):

The College also offers a 1-year Post Graduate Diploma in Tax and Insurance Laws (PGDTIL). It is open to any Graduate who qualifies in the Entrance Examination conducted by the university. Research

The College of Law offers Ph.D. Program in 2 streams viz., Full Time and Part-Time. Candidates who are registered for Ph.D. are classified into 2 categories, viz. Full-time and Part-time research scholars. Normally, the duration of the Full -time research scholarship is four years and for a Part-time scholarship is five years from the date of joining.
