Ali and I were in year 11 when I first asked for his help with maths. I desperately needed to get a grade 7 in my GCSE’s and he took me from barely getting a grade 4 to getting a grade 7 within a few months. Even in a-level maths his way of explaining the problem is very easy to follow. And if I didn’t understand he would show me the proof of the concept which makes you fully grasp the problem. His help with mathematics and the crucial feedback he gave me on my personal statement would eventually get me the grade to get into my first choice university to study engineering.

I met Ali as a direct consequence of my underperformance throughout secondary education. I was constantly performing at the bottom of the lowest set of mathematics classes in school up until year 11 where Ali Kadhim supported a sort of "academic-reinvention" of myself, taking me from a grade 3 in GCSE maths mock exams up to a grade 8 in my final GCSE exams. I stuck with Ali throughout the entire 2 years of my A level courses, where he played an essential role in maintaining my consistent A* performance throughout my A level journey. I have seen myself go from bottom set maths in Y11, to achieving consistent A*s in A level maths, to now going into my first year of studying my masters in Mechanical Engineering at Durham University (A position I would have never imagined myself in when I initially met Ali). I credit a large portion of my progress in maths to Ali, as well as recommend him due to the way in which Ali colourises maths as a broad field to be explored and understood, rather than a school subject that is to be rigidly followed.
