About Séverine
Engineer by education, recruiter by experience, I moved to teaching in 2017 when the opportunity came for my husband and me to move to Japan. I'd had in mind to become an English teacher for some time so I welcomed the opportunity to put my people skills to use in a different way. Having passed the Cambridge CELTA in England, I went on to teach mostly individual lessons in Japan, within language schools. Now I wish to continue and get the chance to teach people all across the world!

I alternate courses based on books, with the 'scaffolding' method, and guided discussions to use the language more freely.
You'll find 4 essential points in my lessons:
* Context: There is always a context. No learning lists of meaningless words.
* Personalisation: I try as much as possible to adapt to your interests, or the reason why you are learning English. Don't hesitate to ask for specific things, if for example you want to practice speaking for a presentation, etc.
* Competences: by varying the lessons, we will cover the 4 skills, Listening, speaking, reading and writing
* Notes: at the end of each lesson, I will send you a copy of my notes, so you will see your mistakes and corrections, new words and expressions; a good way to review the lessons on your side
Most of all: I will adapt to your needs. Everyone has their reasons for learning a foreign language and the lessons must reflect that.
