My teaching/tutoring method is to first identify my student's weak points and then thoroughly work on them to convert them into their strengths.

**I eagerly want to help you deeply learn, understand, and master the subject (all the concepts), so you can reason every exam question for yourself and solve them easily on your own. I will help you Understand The Concept NOT just Memorize it. I want you to get the best grades now and most importantly, keep getting the most excellent grades in the future too.*

I highly motivate my students to develop their own learning interests and critical thinking in order to establish a learner-centered environment in my classes.

Learning process is different for each student so I always tailor my teaching method to what best suits each of my students or a majority of them in group sessions. My commitment and approach to teaching have been rewarded with the highest teaching evaluations a tutor/teacher can receive in an institution particularly dedicated to outstanding teaching. I was consistently among the top 10% of all lecturers, assistant professors, tutors, teachers and instructors at university and school. My main goal is to help my students enjoy learning and understanding concepts deeply instead of just memorizing them.

Find out more about Dr Mary (Highly Professional Full-Time Tutor)

  • When did you develop an interest in your chosen field and in private tutoring?

I have been passionate about the diverse and dynamic field of education encompassing Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Engineering, Biology, Biochemistry, Organic Chemistry, Finance, Accounting, Economics, Management and many more related subjects for as long as I can remember. My interest in these subjects, coupled with a desire to share knowledge, led me to pursue a career in teaching. Embracing the challenge and reward of helping others understand and excel in complex subjects, I found joy in guiding students through their academic journeys. Whether it's through problem-solving in mathematics or exploring the intricacies of economics, witnessing the growth of students has been a fulfilling and motivating experience throughout my teaching career.
  • Tell us more about the subject you teach, the topics you like to discuss with students (and possibly those you like a little less).

I specialize in a broad spectrum of subjects, ranging from Mathematics and Physics to Chemistry, Engineering, Biology, Biochemistry, Organic Chemistry, Finance, Accounting, Economics, Management and many more related subjects. Each subject presents a unique set of opportunities for exploration. In Mathematics and Physics, I find joy in unraveling complex problems and illuminating the elegance of mathematical concepts. Chemistry, including Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry, invites discussions on the intricate workings of molecules and life processes. Engineering provides a platform for innovation and practical application. Meanwhile, Finance, Accounting, Economics, and Management allow us to delve into the dynamics of business, financial strategies, and decision-making. My goal is to foster a deep understanding of these subjects, creating an engaging learning environment where students can appreciate the interconnectedness of knowledge across these diverse disciplines.
  • Did you have any role models; a teacher that inspired you?

Yes, sure, my school teacher served as my first role model, imparting a profound understanding of fundamental concepts. Her approach was not only educational but also friendly, motivating students to learn and grasp concepts at a fundamental level. My second role model was my Ph.D. supervisor, a successful and brilliant professor and researcher. He earned admiration from both local and international students, attracting them to enroll in his classes and projects. His effective time management allowed him to dedicate ample time to his numerous students. Throughout the challenges of my Ph.D. journey, he remained kind and supportive, guiding me to successfully obtain my Doctorate (Ph.D.) in Chemical Engineering with the highest grade, becoming the first in his cohort. Both of these exceptional teachers are forever my role models.
  • What do you think are the qualities required to be a good tutor?

The qualities that contribute to being a good tutor extend beyond expertise in the subject matter. A successful tutor possesses not only a deep understanding of the material but also the ability to communicate complex concepts in a clear and engaging manner. Patience is crucial, as is the capacity to adapt teaching styles to accommodate diverse learning needs. Being approachable and fostering a supportive environment encourages open communication and effective collaboration. A good tutor is not just an instructor but also a mentor, motivating and instilling confidence in students to navigate challenges and excel in their academic pursuits.
  • Provide a valuable anecdote related to your subject or your days at school.

In my early days as a student, I vividly remember grappling with one challenging physics concept. Frustration set in, and I was on the brink of giving up. It was my school teacher who turned this moment into a pivotal learning experience. Rather than simply providing the answer, she patiently guided me through a series of thought-provoking questions, encouraging me to think critically. In that process, the 'aha' moment struck, and the concept clicked. This experience taught me the profound impact a patient and encouraging mentor can have on a student's understanding, an insight I carry with me as I am very committed to inspiring my own students in the subjects I teach.
  • What were the difficulties or challenges you faced or still facing in your subject?

I absolutely enjoy every moment of my teaching/tutoring sessions. I'm deeply passionate about it, and the sense of fulfilment and happiness it brings me is immense. Consequently, I can confidently say that I haven't encountered any specific challenges or difficulties in my teaching journey.
  • Do you have a particular passion? Is it teaching in general or an element of the subject or something completely different?

My passion is definitely teaching and it lies in the holistic journey of imparting knowledge, nurturing curiosity, and contributing to the academic and personal development of my students. I always teach my students so passionately, regardless of the subject (From Mathematics and Physics to Chemistry, Engineering, Biology, Biochemistry, Organic Chemistry, Finance, Accounting, Economics, Management and many more related subjects) or their academic level (school or university/college/etc.). I can clearly see that they also feel this passion and get motivated to learn more, earning higher grades, which brings me great joy to witness.
  • What makes you a Superprof (besides answering these interview questions :-P)?

In all modesty, what makes me a "Superprof" lies in my blend of patience, care, understanding, kindness, and comprehensive knowledge in the subject matter. My approach is marked by a passion for the subjects I teach, which extends to fostering a dynamic and engaging learning environment. I prioritize a personalized teaching style that caters to the unique needs and learning styles of each student. With a comprehensive understanding of subjects ranging from Mathematics and Physics to Chemistry, Engineering, Biology, Biochemistry, Organic Chemistry, Finance, Accounting, Economics, Management and many more related subjects, I offer a well-rounded and versatile educational experience. My dedication to continuous improvement, adaptability, and the ability to inspire and motivate students sets me apart as a "Superprof." I take pride in not just imparting knowledge but also in cultivating a genuine love for learning among my students, aiming for their academic success and personal development. This multifaceted approach, coupled with my genuine passion for teaching, forms the core of what I bring to every tutoring session.
