About Alistair
I have over 11 years of teaching experience and a Graduate Diploma in Violin Pedagogy. I specialize in integrating music theory, aural skills, and sight reading into violin lessons, with a focus on preparing students for music theory exams and understanding advanced harmony. I teach scales, intervals, and harmony through practical bowing and fingering exercises that connect theory to playing. This method supports students in improving sight-reading and overall musicianship. Many of my students are exam candidates or musicians aiming to enhance their fluency. My approach fosters confident, well-rounded violinists with strong theoretical foundations. Mastering theory alongside technique opens up new levels of musical expression.
