I am a professional musical theatre performer based in Southampton. I have been teaching alongside my performing career for as long as I can remember, as I love to share my passion for the wonderful world of singing and music with anyone who wants to learn more about their own unique voice. I also teach music theory, as I believe the knowledge gained through this study really helps performers in their ability to bring what's on the page to life.

KATHLEEN BRENNER TEACHING STUDIO: FIVE YEARS EXPERIENCE TEACHING SINGING AND MUSIC THEORY. CURRENTLY A PROFESSIONAL PERFORMER (MUSICAL THEATRE AND CLASSICAL), PREVIOUSLY A GCSE MUSIC TEACHER. I can help you prepare for singing and theory exams, drama school auditions and your GCSE/A Level Music tests. Lessons are suitable for any level and any age. Singing lessons available for any genre - musical theatre, opera, pop, rock, etc. MY SINGING TEACHING ETHOS: INDIVIDUALITY - Making sure that you sing with your true and unique voice, and that repertoire is chosen to suit you. No carbon copies here! ADAPTABILITY - A wide variety of exercises and repertoire chosen specifically for your voice and what it needs. EASE - Singing should feel as free as possible, and we work on building a technique that leaves tension at the front door. FOUNDATIONS - A strong focus on supporting the voice with the body and breath, making sure that you're singing as healthily as possible. EDUCATION - Using knowledge of anatomy and research of singing technique to help you understand what's going on inside your body when you sing. FUN - Student enjoyment is the most important part of every lesson. We'll work on repertoire that you love and work towards your personal goals and needs. LENGTH OF LESSONS: SINGING 3/4 hour recommended for 10 and under 1 hour recommended for 11 and above MUSIC THEORY 3/4 hour lesson minimum is recommended MY QUALIFICATIONS: Studied at the Royal Academy of Music and Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. Licentiate of the Royal Academy of Music to teach singing.
