About Aisha
Hello! I’m originally from Sydney, Australia, and moved to London to pursue my Masters at the Royal College of Music, where I was honoured to be an Australian Commonwealth Scholar and also supported by the Tait Memorial Trust. Growing up, I studied violin, viola, flute, and piano until I was 17, when I chose to focus on viola and violin. Learning such a variety of instruments exposed me to many styles, ways of thinking about music, and opportunities to play in diverse settings with different musicians. I pursued a lot of youth orchestras and courses. This broad experience has enriched my own playing and deeply influenced my teaching approach. Before moving to London, I studied at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music and worked as a music teacher and freelance musician. Now, based in London, I have a portfolio career teaching music and performing. My performance experience: Have performed with orchestras such as the BBC Symphony Orchestra, Australian Brandenburg Orchestra, Australian Youth Orchestra and LGT Young Soloists. Have performed in venues such as Wigmore Hall, Royal Albert Hall, The Concertgebeouw, The Elbphilharmonie and Sydney Opera House. Played in Masterclasses for Maxim Rysanov and Lars Anders Tomter. Have also performed with artists such as Robbie Williams, Michael Bublé, Gang of Youths and Harry Connick Jr. Played for orchestral recording sessions for film/TV such as Marvel and I Am Woman soundtrack.

I find teaching truly rewarding and really enjoy getting to know each student as an individual. By understanding their unique learning style, interests, and how they respond, I tailor my approach to suit them perfectly—whether they’re playing just for fun or dreaming of a music career. I’ve been fortunate to teach a wide range of students, from very young beginners to adults. I love helping them become confident, independent learners by showing them how to practise effectively at home and encouraging them to be their own teachers. I’m also passionate about building strong proper technique from the start, knowing it can be tricky but makes all the difference later on. Alongside that, I make sure music theory is clear and meaningful, weaving it into lessons so students really connect with the music they’re learning. Teaching Experience: - 10 years of teaching experience - Private students in London and Sydney - Group lessons -Online and in person lessons - Broad age range from little beginners as young as 4 to adults - Prepared students for ABRSM and AMEB Exams - String Tutor for Sydney Youth Orchestras and NSW Public - Schools State Music Camps Things we'll work on: Violin / Viola specifically: - Develop a good tone and sound - Intonation and playing in tune - Develop good posture - Left hand technique such as finger independence, strength and agility, shifting, vibrato etc - Right arm bow technique such as string crossing, different bow strokes, articulation - Technical work such as scales, arpeggios, exercises, - Pieces! Learning different styles and genres and different composers On music in general: - Music theory - Aural skills and developing a musical ear - Performance skills and developing a positive growth mindset
