About Coleman
I'm a singer and musician just back from tour. I have played instruments my whole life and started singing when I was 16. I wasn't great to start with and had many teachers say that I shouldn't bother or that I wouldn't fulfil my dream... Now I've toured a lot of the world just through my singing and I understand the passion and dedication needed to succeed. I've always found that a good teacher makes you excited to practise and bring that into my lessons. There's always a song out there that you'll love to work on and that suits you perfectly, no need to keep using the same tired old songs to teach you. I'm dedicated to my pupils and love a challenge. I, like the majority of performers, struggle from time to time with confidence and self-doubt, so I've built a toolkit of methods to make sure that I'm feeling happy with my work and that I'm encouraging myself in a positive and valid environment. I like to give pupils the strength to KNOW they're able and to KNOW they have what it takes. If you've got that couple of songs that you know will smash it out of the ballpark, then you'll never hesitate to call yourself a great singer!

I'm a friendly, approachable and fun teacher of singing. I've had great results with past students and have prepared singing students for drama school auditions and LAMDA and ABRSM exams. I aim to take the pressure off the voice and let the singing happen naturally through trusted, constantly improving/evolving, relevant muscular techniques. - Which subject(s) do you teach? Singing for children and adults covering basic technique, working on repertoire ranging from musical theatre to pop/rock and classical. Auditions for drama schools, or even just to have a go-to song for parties. I also play stringed instruments to a high level, so if you want to combine lessons we can! - Tell me about your qualifications. I trained at the prestigious Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts graduating with a 1st in Musical Theatre. I also have a certificate in Pop Song Composition from The Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts. I have toured the UK and America with huge productions working with some of the biggest names in the business. - How much do you charge? Singing lessons: £45 p/h 24 hours notice is required for cancellations, otherwise the student will be charged the full lesson fee. - Where do you teach? I teach at home or in student's homes if they are local. I also teach online via zoom. - When are you available? Tuesday-Thursday (sometimes sat+sun if needed for the right pupil) - Which ages and levels do you teach? I'm happy to teach singing to all ages and levels. - Which qualifications do you prepare your students for? I'm happy to prepare and enter singing students for the LAMDA musical theatre exams, the London College of Music Popular Music Vocals exams and ABRSM classical singing exams if they wish. - Do you have a personal message for students? Singing need not be overly complicated and it doesn't need to be stressful or scary. If you can isolate certain sounds and areas of the voice, you can strengthen them. So it's almost like the gym (without the egos or the selfies). I commit myself to making the lessons fun, engaging and focused on week by week improvement. Big improvements can be made in no time at all and with a small amount of time scheduled and set aside, we can find a timetable that works around your other commitments so that singing never gets in the way of you living your life. I have a huge repertoire of songs for all pupils. I love acting and narrative so I bring storytelling into the equation, as the best performances have the performer being free to tell a story. That's what the audience really wants to see!

I had two singing lessons with Coleman and booked one for a friend right afterwards. He's a patient, knowledgeable, and easygoing teacher! Coleman is great at meeting the student where they are, working with what they've got, and taking full advantage of the lesson time. I'd absolutely recommend his tutoring for singers of any skill level.
Coleman has a deep knowledge and passion about the voice, and is able to uncomplicate the process of vocal development in a way that's easy to understand and very practical. From my time working with him it is clear he pays his students particular personal attention to navigate their unique challenges, and goes at the pace that is neccesary for the best vocal development.
