How to Get Around Marrakech
When you visit Marrakech, you can’t just spend all your time in the Medina. There are plenty of places worthy of your time just a few kilometres away. You'll need the right footwear for getting around Marrakech. (Source: elbasrikhadija)So which mode of transport should you use? The most common way to get around Marrakech is by taxi. Marrakech’s little beige taxis run around the city centre and surrounding areas for between £2 and £3 per trip, depending on how far you go. Make sure you get the driver to put the meter on! If they refuse, don’t get in the taxi or mention that you’ll contact the Tourist Police and everything will soon be sorted out. Taking the taxi around Marrakech is the most effective and economical way to get around. In places like the Medina, where cars aren’t allowed, you’ll have to travel on foot. Tourists often need to find their way around by asking the local merchants who know the area better than the back of their hand. You can also rent a bike or ride in a tuk-tuk to get around Medina. These are nice ways to get around the neighbourhood. Carriages can take you around the other neighbourhoods in the city. They tend to cost around £10 per hour and allow tourists to enjoy the beauty of their surroundings without having to rush. We wouldn’t recommend renting a car. Driving in Marrakech is quite complicated and you probably don’t want to get into any trouble on your trip.
