The good teacher must know her subjects and how to help students learn those subjects. I know the good teacher must have a deep appreciation of how knowledge is created in the discipline, how it is organized and how it is linked to other disciplines. I use my knowledge of the discipline to expose my students to modes of critical thinking, encouraging them to analyze, apply, synthesize, and evaluate all they read and hear. I love the subjects I teach, and I know how to make them come alive for my students

Research interest and experienceResearch InterestMy research interest lies in various interdisciplinary fields of physics like atmospheric physics, research on climate change, research on health impact on climate change, land-sea interaction, remote sensing and spectroscopy to name a few. I have experience in extracting data from satellite images using ENVI software. I have also experience to run FITS file via DS9,FV etc. Also, have some experience in working with softwares like Panoply to view and analyze NetCDF files. I am an experienced Linux and Mac user for many years and also I’m familiar in scientific programming in C, Matlab , Fortran, Python.Following are the research projects that I’ve done/doing :1. Study of seasonal variation of atmospheric precipitable water vapour in northern and eastern parts of India by ground based and satellite based remote sensing and observation of its global trend(Full semester M.Sc dissertation project)Thesis link: (concealed information) : This project aims to study the seasonal variation of atmospheric precipitable water vapour in northern and eastern parts of India and also the global trend. It was found that relative study of ground and satellite based measurements provide similar variation .The regular periodic nature of the time series of precipitable water vapour needed more mathematical investigation to find out some features that is not observable from the time series plot. The Fast Fourier transform method was used to study the periodicity and it was found that two major components of periodicity (annual and semiannual) was present. This was further verified with the air temperature near surface and this also showed similar sort of periodicity with two similar components .Furthermore, the wavelet coherence technique was used to find the correlation between precipitable water vapour and the air temperature near surface in both time and frequency domain simultaneously. The temperature and water vapour was found to follow a hysteresis loop in annual cycle which indicates semiannual positive feedback effect of atmospheric water vapour on air temperature, that appears to be the cause of two major periodic components on both these variables . A mathematical model is proposed that fits with the variation of PWV in northern and eastern parts of India . On global study, it was found that atmospheric water vapour has highest magnitude around the equatorial belt and gradually decreases near pole. Also, the northern hemisphere consists of slightly more amount of water vapour than in southern hemisphere. It was also found that the equatorial belt with ±5N range shows much irregular periodicity in PWV and it becomes more periodic gradually as one shifts from equatorial belt. It was found that PWV gradually decreases in equatorial belt at very high rate and the rate of decrease becomes less as one shifts from equatorial belt.Under supervision of Prof. Barun Raychaudhuri (Presidency University)
