Luke has been teaching my 12 year old son piano for the last 4 years. He's a fantastic teacher - very laid back, while still structured, and also responsive to what the student is particularly interested in. He is equally versatile with both classical and jazz, which is very unusual, and valuable.

Luke is an excellent teacher!

He is keen to work to your goals and does not adhere to an overly rigid 'set' curriculum. This makes his lessons exciting, and I have always looked forward to them. Each lesson I get my money's worth as I come away with an improved technique and an expanded knowledge.

Luke, as a teacher, has an excellent eye for detail and is able to spot subtle errors in technique. As he corrects these errors, he is always able to explain why they are so and what correcting them will do to help me - and he does so in a patient and assured way.

In my experience, Luke has also been very good at adapting his teaching to my goals and commitment level. During my time as his student there have been periods where I have had the time be a rather serious learner, and periods where the same time commitment has not been possible. In both cases, Luke was able to adapt his approach to meet me where I was at.

In addition, another of Luke's strengths as a teacher is in illustrating the purpose and ideas behind developing a particular skill. It is his approach not to force you to sight-read for hours, but to eloquently explain the merits and use of such a skill, to the point that you find yourself inspired to put much effort into developing it.

Overall, I have found Luke to be a dynamic and compassionate teacher, with all of the ability and rigour of the experienced, professional pianist and teacher that he is! I highly recommend Luke as a teacher.

Luke is such a patient teacher, and his lessons are always fun. He’s also incredibly good at music, and it sounds so beautiful when he plays piano that sometimes I want to stop learning and just listen instead. He’s very good at explaining things and is able to make quite complicated music theory make sense. I’d recommend him wholeheartedly to anyone wanting to learn the piano or learn jazz improvisation. I don’t think they could find a better teacher.
