I believe that yoga is a way of living. It is not only about postures.
The most important thing we learn in yoga is to breathe. It sounds simple but when we begin doing conscious breathing, at a specific pace, we realize how much breathing we have been missing out on. Breathing is for stress management, it is anti-aging, and it makes one stable inside. Ultimately, what is inside manifests on the outside.
After breathing comes postures. Depending on the level of the student in practising yoga, their lifestyles, jobs, any specific concerns of theirs etc, the classes will be conducted.
The ending can be in two ways- svasana (the corpse pose), if one wants to de-stress after a long day, or a brief period of meditation, if they wish to prepare themselves mentally for doing something later.
I have done a 250 hours of yoga teacher training in Santhi Yoga School of Vedanta Studies, Fort Kochi, December 2017. I had been personally practising yoga since 2014 before I decided to join the teacher training course. I have a good understanding of physical anatomy, of course. Besides this, I will also give classes after assessing the lifestyle of the student. There are different postures appropriate and necessary for different kinds of lifestyles and jobs. If the student wishes to focus on a specific problem in the class, he/she can specify it to me in the beginning, so that I organize the class according to their needs.
