With the current situation regarding the Coronavirus in India, all of us have been put on lockdown for the time being. All students, high school and university alike, must stay at home and work remotely to help prevent the spread of covid-19. For many, this has been quite an adjustment to their daily routines and a lot of people struggle to stay at home for days on end. Fortunately, there are ways to deal with this isolation to make sure you stay on track, whether at work or at school.
Working from home is, for many people, a dream. You can have flexible hours, stay in your pajamas all day, work peacefully in your home without being distracted by outside elements and not waste time in public transport.
However, working at home is not as simple as you might think. In fact, when you work from home, it is very difficult to stay concentrated on your studies and you can be quickly distracted by Netflix or another activity. In order to keep focused it is important to set some rules for yourself.
In this article, we share our best methods to avoid distractions and keep you focussed on your work during the confinement period. By enforcing some rules and establishing a dedicated workspace you can keep ahead of your studies. Just because the country is on lockdown, that doesn't mean you have to fall behind!
Fix Your Own Working Hours
One of the hardest things about working from home is creating a revision schedule (and sticking to it!) Whether you are working towards a bachelor's degree or taking your class 10 or 12 exams, you are going to need to revise effectively and for that, a revision timetable containing all the topics you need to cover is your best bet at staying on track.
The number one way to do this is to build a custom schedule that allows you to tick off completed topics as you go along.
You can, for example, choose to work every other day if you think you have enough time to cover all your exam topics, however, most students opt to do a little revision every day.
Choose a specific time to study every day, if you are a morning person you may prefer to get your revision done in the morning, or if you work better at night you may prefer to study later in the evening.
Try to not overload your brain during these long hours of confinement, stick to your schedule and remember to take small breaks every hour or so!
So we recommend that you structure each day clearly and set strict schedules or goals for your revising. Writing it down in your planner or diary will help you stick to it and once you've finished, you have the rest of the day to enjoy yourself. Self-discipline is key here!
Set Up Your Own Workspace
If you really want to be productive while working from home, it is necessary to have a separate place or room to establish your home workspace. It can be really difficult to motivate yourself and get started if you're sitting in your bed or sprawled out on the sofa.
We still don't know how long we will be in confinement, but looking at the situation in other countries such as Spain and Italy, we can assume it will last at least another few weeks so it is worthwhile setting up your own defined revision space, especially for those preparing to take exams.
Having your study space in a separate location will allow you to associate that space with serious study. If you regularly revise in the same place, it will become easier for you to settle into study mode and focus.
When you are in your dedicated workspace, you are in "work" mode and will be able to study much more efficiently than in your bed.
It is also a good idea to prepare revision worksheets. Making index cards can allow you to categorize your subjects and to revise better. In addition, you can leave your revision sheets in your workspace, or stick them on the wall so you can always see them.
Enhance Your Learning with Apps
A good way to deal with distractions, like your phone, is to fight fire with fire by working on the same phone. There are many applications for smartphones that can help you continue school from home while having fun.

Apps are a great way to help you memorize course content and concepts. In this way, distraction becomes the way to revise: these applications allow you to revise in a fun way.
Take Online Classes and Continue to Learn
With a private teacher, you have the advantage of being able to continue learning online!
A good way to continue studying while getting away from the distractions of confinement is to take private lessons online to prepare for your exams.
