I base my teaching on the ideology of having a beautiful blend of good ear training, harmonic knowledge (music theory), instrumental technique, a LOT of playing and some philosophy of music. I try encourage all my students to have their own unique style of playing as well as try to expose them to music of all styles from jazz to metal to EDM etc. so they can appreciate all the different ways to express yourself through music. Usually during class I tend to ask the student what they would want to work on, next I come up with some practice material for the student and have them play it and practice it so they can get a hang of it and once the student is ready I have them play either with me or a backing track or a loop so they can learn how to use these lessons in a real world scenario.
I got my B.A in Performance from Berklee College of Music where I got the opportunity to learn from teachers who define mastery on their instruments such as Tim Miller, David Fiuczynski, Tomo Fujita, Scott Taruli, Joe Stump, Victor Wooten, Fernando Mitchelin, Neal Itzler, and more. Before going to Berklee I had learnt Indian Classical Voice for a year from my aunt who is a vocal teacher along with a well known household name Mr. Amyt Dutta. I have played numerous studio sessions at Berklee College of Music for various different artists, producers and ensembles such as Mira Cho, SATVA, Varsha Vinn, Katyani, Emma Kern, Brenna Larsen, Small Jazz band ensemble, Rhythm section ensemble, mixed styles ensemble, Luca Zadra, Ourumo etc. I have also played commercial gigs such as weddings and office parties as well as bar gigs with various GB bands in Vermont, Nantucket, Boston and Cambridge. I have also recorded guitars as well as performed live for Virender Singh, Dhruv Bhan and Muheet Bharti. Apart from this I also make music as a solo artist. I released my debut EP "Familiar Feelings" under the name Abstract Raj which is a concept of mine wherein I make relaxing music using only guitars and effects, available on all major platforms such as Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon and more! I have also had the privilege of having my name appear on Rolling Stone India magazine 3 times for my involvement with SATVA, and The Great Indian Jams - An Initiative by Utsav Manga. I have also made numerous improv videos for a backing track company named Coffee Break Grooves.
The first free class will be used for getting to know the student and figuring out the student's goals
